How to Eat Spaghetti

1.  Twirl some spaghetti around your fork.  Keep your non-fork-wielding hand nearby, in case you need some assistance getting the noodles to stay on your fork.

 2.  Successfully get your forkful of spaghetti into your mouth.  Slurp the straggling noodles in as well.  Raise your non-fork-wielding hand in victory.

3.  Repeat steps one and two throughout dinner, somehow still managing to wear lots of sauce and make a legendary mess.  :)

Our bedtime routine...

...has recently changed.  We used to do one bath for the boys together, then brush teeth, put on pjs, and each boy chose two books to read in bed with at least one parent before drifting off to sleep.

Nowadays, the boys like to be together "so much" that they have adapted their routine so that each boy chooses one book and they read together in P's bed.  (That's right... three people "relax and get comfortable" in P's twin bed, rather than in C's double bed.  I'm still trying to figure that one out...)

I'm so glad that both of our sons love to do things together, whether those things are everyday activities or special events!

Grandma Hen stops in

A couple of Fridays ago, on her way to The Cove, Grandma Hen stopped by to see our family.

We were glad to see her, and the boys were also excited to see her "grandma bag".  They received some of (what P has since informed me are) their very favorite fruit snacks.

P also received a new "tiny lego" set.

C received a Peter Pan playset.  He loves to set the figures up and act out different parts of the story.

The boys love reading, so it was a treat to listen to a favorite story, especially since it was read by Grandma Hen!

It was so nice of Grandma Hen and her friend to stop by our place on their way to their conference!

Clifford the Big Red Dog LIVE!

In mid-April, the boys donned what P calls their "wedding ties" and flip flops (hey, their dad went to Hampden-Sydney!) and we took them to dinner at a local restaurant and over to CoMMA for Clifford the Big Red Dog LIVE!

The show was cute, but it got a bit long - and was rather late at night - especially for C.

Clifford's show was full of BIG ideas for the audience - ways to be a good friend and a responsible person.  Our boys definitely loved the interactive parts of the show, in particular helping Emily Elizabeth look for her missing puppy early on in the first act.

It's Tweetsie time!

Spring is here!  If you've been hanging out with us in cyberspace for long, you know what that means.  The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and Tweetsie Railroad is open for the season!

We met our friends at Tweetsie for a day full of fun, and as usual the park didn't disappoint.  We had a blast!

We rode the "big train"

and the mouse train.

We stopped at the Palace Saloon to see the "dancin' girls" and take in one of their shows.  P was disappointed to find that Miss Ruby won't be at Tweetsie this year, but he did have a lovely convo with Diamond Lil.

We rode some rides at the Country Fair.

The petting zoo was popular again this year.

I broke the park rules and let the boys take off their shirts for some water play when they were panning for gold.

P has already started planning his next park visit, and C is ready to head back as well.  I'm sure there are more Tweetsie posts to come!

more bike rides

bike rides

When the boys got bikes for Easter, they were incredibly excited.  Then C fell off of his bike in the neighbors' driveway.  And C decided that he didn't want to ride his bike anymore.  Ever.

So when we headed to the greenway for some open spaces to safely ride, P rode ahead while C stuck with walking.  (Walking while wearing his "awesome" dragon helmet.  Safety first, folks.)

P had one spill, and then he asked me to stick a little closer.  I had to push him to get back on the bike, but soon he was comfortable again...

...and rolling along independently.

C has since begun asking P if he can sit on his bicycle... but he hasn't shown any interest in pedaling yet!
