Chase shopped until he dropped...

at Treat!

(If you're in our local area, go check out Treat!)  The boys bought Christmas presents for several family members there, and they were all a hit!

Freddy's Sunday adventures

Despite a very busy Saturday, Freddy was up bright and early for Sunday School.  He also attended church - Freddy was very interested in the message during the children's sermon!

After church, Freddy helped P decorate turkey cookies for P's class. They even chipped in to help C make some for his kindergarten class.

We had a great time with Freddy!

a visit from Freddy the Frog

The weekend before Thanksgiving, it was P's turn to bring Freddy, the class frog, home.  Freddy spends each weekend of the school year with one of the second graders in his classroom, and then the host or hostess writes about Freddy's weekend in Freddy's journal.  Freddy and the journal return to school on Monday.

Saturday of Freddy's visit was a busy day!  C had to disguise a turkey for his kindergarten homework.  Is anyone surprised that he disguised his turkey by dressing it to look like Queen Elsa from Frozen?

For lunch, we had one of P's favorite meals.  Luckily, Freddy was up for chicken nuggets and flies for lunch.

Saturday night was the tree lighting ceremony downtown.  Normally we skip the lighting because it's before Thanksgiving and there's tons of Christmas activities, but Daddy A wanted Freddy to have something fun for his journal, so we headed to the ceremony.  The boys got their faces painted.

We ran into one of Freddy's friends from last year, and Freddy just had to say hello.

All three boys saw Santa...

...but Freddy added some personal requests.

The boys wrote letters to the North Pole.  P helped Freddy with his letter, and Santa wrote back to Freddy care of P's teacher at school.  That was a fun surprise for the whole class!

While roasting marshmallows, P and C ran into one of their favorite sitters.

It's a good thing, too, because Freddy ended up needing some help roasting his marshmallow.

What a fun Saturday!

The Polar Express

Grandma Paige and Poppa Fred got us tickets again for the Polar Express last November.  {Thanks, guys!  We loved it!}  The six of us traveled to the North Pole to visit with the man in the red suit.

As the train was pulling back into the station, my mom commented, "This might be our last year on The Polar Express."  P overheard her and asked, "Why?"  She explained that she thought P might think he was too old to ride the Polar Express by next Christmas.  P replied, "Um, Grandma?  You're never too old for Santa Claus!"  Made my Christmas.  I hope P and C are both always able to enjoy the special magic of the Christmas season {while keeping in mind the true reason for the season, of course}.

piano lessons

Daddy A snapped this photo during one of P's piano lessons last November.  Our whole family just loves his sweet teacher!  I can't believe it's almost time for the June recital - where did the year go?

Backyard Bible Club

Wednesdays after school our church hosts "God's Backyard Bible Club" {a spinoff of "God's Backyard Bible Camp", which we started hosting during the summer almost three years ago}.  C enjoyed this day in particular, when one of his shepherds was his good friend M, home from an out of town job.

brothers reading books

Walking into one of the boys' bedrooms and seeing this sight never fails to bring a smile to my face.  I have always loved reading, and it makes me so happy to see that both P and C have caught "the reading bug"!
