Christmas belts

In January, P tested for his red belt, and C tested for his green belt.  Grandma Hen was in town, so she was able to watch the boys test and cheer them on as they showcased their knowledge and skills.  Way to go, guys!

Kings and Queens Day

When the kindergartners at our school learn about royalty, they end the unit with "Kings and Queens Day", complete with costumes.  C was crowned "King of Bright Ideas".  He took time out of his busy schedule to pose for a few photos with a friend, his classmates, and the entire kindergarten group.  Daddy A came in the afternoon and put on a special show as the court jester.  All of the young royalty enjoyed the performance, but I'm sorry to say I don't have any photos of that portion of the festivities!

C's birthday

When C turned six, he celebrated on the actual day with a homemade Elsa cake for his classmates, presents from his family, and dinner out - with a birthday dessert - at the restaurant of his choice. He had a blast, and we loved celebrating with him!

ordinary days

C really enjoys watching "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood," and I have enjoyed seeing him enjoy the show. I loved "Mister Roger's Neighborhood" as a child, and I never really succeeded at getting P or C interested in the reruns. This is at least a little like history repeating itself - in a positive way - and a chance for me to share {at least a spin off of} something from my childhood with one of my children.

For Christmas, C received a talking Daniel Tiger, and now they watch the show together.

Great Wolf Lodge, day two

Day two at Great Wolf Lodge continued to be more than we expected!  Of course the water park was a crowd pleaser.  There were also face paint stations and balloon artists.  We ate lunch inside a large gingerbread house.  C was so worn out from all the excitement of our stay that he fell asleep on the couch in the lobby waiting for our table to be ready!  The boys also met some of the characters that live at Great Wolf Lodge.  This is on our family's "destination wish list" for a return visit!

Great Wolf Lodge, day one

Right after Christmas, my parents took our family on an overnight trip. We went to Great Wolf Lodge, and it was a GIANT hit!

We all had a fabulous time. The boys request a return visit at least weekly. The staff were friendly, the decor was well themed, and there was no shortage of fun things to do. Our little wolf cubs had a blast, and I bet your pack would love it, too!
