P's 8th birthday celebration

P has now read the entire Harry Potter series, so it wasn't a big surprise when he requested a Harry Potter themed birthday party.  We opted not to give out invitations at school and only invited as many partygoers as we had room for on the "Hogwarts Express".  We began our adventure with a sorting ceremony.

Once all of the students were sorted into houses, they boarded the Hogwarts Express and we headed to a historic home for a tour and magic show.  We took a group photo in front of "Hogwarts".

The "students" {and their parents!} thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the premises.

P wanted a cake that looked like a stack of Harry's schoolbooks, with a replica of P's favorite Harry Potter book on the top.  We served the cake with butterbeer, of course!

The magic show was a real treat!  There were several volunteers from the audience involved in the show as well.

Each attendee was able to stop by Honeyduke's for some golden snitch cake pops, chocolate frogs, and a few other treats.

I will admit, I had a great time planning this party as well as attending!
